  1. what are they talking about when they talk about new beginnings?

  2. I am confused when the Hound captures the wrong man. Can't the hound tell if it wasn't Montag?

    ReplyDelete
  3. Do you think the destruction of the city was for a new beginning?

    ReplyDelete
  4. Alex B- Montag drank something that Granger gave to him so that he doesn't smell like himself.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Was Mankind the Phoenix or was Montag the Phoenix?

    ReplyDelete
  6. conner, when they talk about new beginning they are talking about how the city is different and everyone that everyone basically start new.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Pierce- I think that the city is the phoenix being reborn again so that it can start a new age. Maybe one with books.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Connor-
If you are talking about the end of the book then I think they are talking about restarting since the city was just destroyed.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Connor
I think that when they talk about new beginnings they mean that they are starting to rebuild their society.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Pierce-
Yes, I think this city will be given a chance to start over but it will take some time to rebuild the society,

    ReplyDelete
  11. garrett- I am not sure but i was thinking that is was mankind, because they are the ones that are starting a new beginning

    ReplyDelete
  12. Alex- I think that the hound would be able to tell if it was Montag, but at that point I don't think the really care who it is.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Conner-

When they talk about knew beginnings they are talking about starting over and what it will be like when they have a "new beginning"

    ReplyDelete
  14. Alex b: they were watching it all happen and they said that every one will stop paying attention if it goes on to long so i think they just staged.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Connor-
I think when they talk about new beginnings is related to the destruction of the city that Bradbury explained at the end of the book.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Pierce- Yes, I do think that the destruction of the city was a new beginning. Just like it said in the beginning of the book, fire made things clean and new again.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Pierce- I do think that the destruction of the city does symbolize and new beginning, because now everyone can start over and maybe even what Montag has done will change society in the future.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Garrett-
I think that mankind is the phoenix and Montag helped to start the burning and rebirth process quicker.

    ReplyDelete
  19. What do you think Montag thought when his fire chief had books?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Has montag followed the hero's journey?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Conner-
They are talking about how now they can start new and that society will have the chance to be a more pleasant place to live.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Is it better to be happy and ignorant, or to know everything, and be depressed because of it?

    ReplyDelete
  23. What makes Montag remember where he met Mildred?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Garett- I think that humanity was the phoenix because it's not just Montag that needs to correct what he has done in his life and make a new beginning, it's the world, But it starts with Montag.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Do you think what happened to Montag was the same as Granger and the other men?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Do you think that Montag has changed alot from the start of this story to the end?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Garrett: I think that the society was the phoenix because they burn down and are being reborn

    ReplyDelete
  28. Garett-
He was sad because she died, which made him think of her, and that led to th thought of where they met eachother.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Alex-
The government must have reprogrammed the Hound when they realized they weren't going to be able to find Montag so they "captured" him to make the public think they are more powerful than they really are.

    ReplyDelete
  30. After finishing the book, is Montag a hero? If no, who is?

    ReplyDelete
  31. On page 159 it is talking about Montag and how he is thinking about Mildred and what she is going through during the explosions. Montag still always says he wouldn't really be sad if Mildred dies, but then why is he so worried about her? I think deep down he still cares for Mildred and will still care if she dies.

    ReplyDelete
  32. What does it mean on page 160 when it says that "The sound of it's death came after" ?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Alex -
I think that it's better to be informed of what's going on even if it's not a happy thing to know. If every one chooses to be ignorant then the society today could get to be very similar to the one in the book.

    ReplyDelete
  34. @ty I do think think montag is a hero after all the things he has been through but I also think there could be diffrent heros

    ReplyDelete
  35. pierce-

Te bombing of the city can be looked at like it was so they could start over and have a new beginning. Its kinda like in World War II when we bombed Japan. The destruction of their city changed them as a country for good i believe. Some of their rebellious policies were removed, their leader stepped down. Even though the radiation was said to last hundreds of years, look at their city now. It has flourished along with the people. It helped remove the poverty they had and such. So i believe the bombing will change them for the good.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Sarah: I think he has changed so much because he used to just fit the mold of society and now he is his own person he has different thoughts and he likes books and is open about it and not hiding it.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Connor-
Yeah I think Montag has followed some of the steps in the Hero's Journey. I myself would not consider him a hero but some of his actions were heroic like.

    ReplyDelete
  38. TyW-
I don't think there a a true hero, and honestly it doesn't really matter in their society because they are all starting over, starting with the destruction of the city.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Tyler, i think he is a good person and he changed people's thoughts, but i dont know if that would really make him a hero.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Sarah- I think Montag has changed a lot, he has changed his whole perspective on life, what he does, and who he is. He realizes he was wrong, and he tried to fix it. He totally became a new man from start to finish.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Alex B- I think that is a question that this book really brings up. Is ignorance really bliss? Mildred was ignorant, but she wasn't happy. If you are informed, it might be depressing for a little bit but then if somebody lets it keep them depressed, that's their choice.

    ReplyDelete
  42. TyW- Montag is definately a hero at the end of this novel. He seems to be the only person that wasn't afraid to read the books and actually make a difference about it. Clairisse and Faber only seemed to help Montag but Montag is helping humanity.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Jessica-
I think it just means that they watched this entire explosion and then the boom came. Since sound travels slower than light.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Tyler W-
I don't know if we can call Montag a hero because he destroyed society. He could be a hero if the society that is rebuilt is better.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Do you think that is society is going to turn into something better then before?

    ReplyDelete
  46. Sarah-
I do think that Montag has changed, but not a considerable amount. The one thing that i noticed about him that changed throughout the story, is his view on his job, which seemed to be altered by Clarisse.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Will Granger, Montag and the other men be the influence of the new age? Or will someone from another city take over and make it the same as it used to be.

    ReplyDelete
  48. why did someone blow up the city in the first place?

    ReplyDelete
  49. @sara ya he was nice and everything but, I think changing peoples thoughts was more heroic than you think. Its a big deal to change peoples opnions and views on certain subjects. especially something as big as banned books.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Jessica K: I think that it could mean that he can hear the cries of people that are not dead about dieing, and the sound of the city that is falling

    ReplyDelete
  51. Do you think the city has been blown up before? Possibly for similar reasons?

    ReplyDelete
  52. Sarah- I don't know if that would happen right away because they need to rediscover all of the burnt knowledge, but I do believe that society will get better than it was.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Jessica-

I just believe it was a description and had no really significant meaning because after the bomb has been dropped their is a lot of noise from the explosion like for example if buildings are falling, people screaming and crying thats what i think he means really.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Garett-
Honestly, we don't really know if Montag, Granger, and other men will influence the new age or if it will be from someone of another city, because we don't know if that city got blown up too.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Timmy-
In the book Granger tells Montag a little about their history. But yes I think that in a way they are all similar, that their society would not accept them for who they are.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Sarah: I think that some one blew up the city because they are in a war and when everyone was distracted by montag then who ever bombed them thought when not kick them when they are down.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Sarah-
I think the society will be better because when the city was destroyed it created a clean slate to start over. Also others might see how poorly they had been living.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Garett- I definatly think that Montag, Granger, and the other men will be a big influence on the new age. I don't think they would let society go back to what it was before. I also think the people in the society will not let it go back to what it was before.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Timmy-
Yes, I think that this has happened before and the people along the railroad Montag meets after he escapes all lived through this similar event.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Sarah-
They are in a nuclear war so some thought that city was important and needed to be destroyed.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Could Montag really call Clarisse a friend? Because i feel that he almost did not know her enough

    ReplyDelete
  62. Timothy- I think yes, something similar has happened in the past, because on pg153 Granger says, "we'll set it up in type until another Dark Age, when we might have to do the whole damn thing over again."

    ReplyDelete
  63. would we want to live in a world where nothing bad ever happened? Is tragedy important? I think it is. Human emotion is the most interesting and valuable thing a human has, we cant replicate that, and I'm not sure we ever will be. Humanities sadness and happiness, its imperfections are what makes it beautiful. what are we without emotion?

    ReplyDelete
  64. Garett-

I do believe Montag and Granger will be the influence men of the new age because they had and have the determination to defy the law for what the believe is right or not so i do also believe they will do everything in their power to make sure the society will not go back to how it was before.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Timothy: I don't think that they have been bombed but i think that they know that it was going to happen. It would make no sense if you had a whole society killed and then just to bring them back the same way and have it happen again.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Did you guys think that this was a good ending for the book?

    ReplyDelete
  67. Sarah-
I think that Clarisse could have been a friend because it seemed like she changed Montag's perspective on his job and on society.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Timmy- I'm sure there is no way that Mildred survived, thats why Montag remembered her and was in a way mourning her death.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Sarah: I think that he can call her a friend because she showed him something he had never even thought about before and most of the time a friend changes you and how are going to be.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Sarah-
I think they could have considered each other friends. Yes they didn't know each other long but Clarisse effected Montags life in such a positive and strong way in such a short amount of time.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Sarah-
I think it was an alright ending because they did destroy the whole city, to start a new beginning, which I thought was a reasonable ending for this book.

    ReplyDelete
  72. @sara- I think she is a friend beacuse she helped him and also changed his thoughts on the books and pretty much changed his life around to be a better person, thats what Ffriends do.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Sarah- I really liked the ending of the book because it really tied the whole theme of fire and things being destroyed for no purpose.

    ReplyDelete
  74. timmy- I have no idea if Mildred died or not i dont think the book said.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Timothy: If the whole town went down i don't think she would have survived

    ReplyDelete
  76. Timmy- I don't think Mildred survived. There isn't really any proof that she dd or didn't, but she was such a weak charecter, she just doesn't seem like she would have.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Timmy-
No she couldn't have survived. I think she most likely died the way Montag imagined her to.

    ReplyDelete
  78. jenny-
i agree because it would make the story more impactfull because that meen she imagined it so it would make it a crazy twist if it really happend.
